It’s a grease hybrid lubricant that turns to oil under heat and pressure. Vault bearings are a hybrid between regular grease bearings and oil bath. The advantages are supposed to be less maintenance and the ability to keep water out
I should change it into that. I Changed out the grease seal and bearing in each hub. Waiting on Spectrum gel coat patch paste for chip. Cecil marine didn’t have any classic white Parker gel coat in stock and I am not sure they will get anymore
Cleaning boat today after trip and noticed grease splatter under the chine in the area of my trailer tires. Looked on the other side of the boat in the same area and noticed the same thing but a smaller amount. While cleaning off the grease I noticed a decent chip in my gel coat. I have vault...
I’m confused I thought you couldn’t get an XL shaft with the zuk? What bracket did you buy? If you bought the Cecil marine one it should have came with a backing plate like pictured below. That bracket is only rated for a 15hp motor though
Agreed. Loved the performance but it cracked my AV plate and it’s been welded 3 different times since. Once that cast aluminum is cracked the leading edge of the weld to fix it will be weaker
Literally heard the exact opposite when I was researching and asking around. Even boat outfitters website states the screw down version are dryer and allow less water intrusion than the pry up deck plates. For me personally I couldn’t find a replacement O’ring for my pry up plates. The ones from...
The O’ring pry up deck plates are doomed to fail over time. I wasn’t willing to allow anymore water intrusion into my fuel tank compartment after mine failed. They are the notorious culprit for fuel tank corrosion
The Armstrong deck plates are good but they do stick up a bit more than other screw down plates. I have one on my bracket which I assume was factory installed and it has kept the inside of the bracket bone dry. I replaced the pry up deck plates with Tempress screw down plates and they have been...
Wouldn’t even be a second thought for me. Yes I like efi but the carbureted 9.9 is extremely dependable. I had one on my North River and when I bought my Parker I bought a new 2022 yami 9.9 for it. I knew there were other options with efi for less money. Not all 9.9’s that claim to be high...
I think your expectations for a 20 hp vs a true high thrust 9.9 like the Yamaha are off. The difference in displacement speeds will be minimal. That being said Suzuki’s are good motors and I was shocked by the weight of their 20. To answer your question though you need the XL shaft or 25”
