Hi, I would like to present my 2004 2830 Parker with twin yamaha 250 2 stroke HPDI. I am the original owner and use her mainly to scuba dive off Pensacola Fl. A lot is written about being a great fishing boat, but the roomy cockpit easily accomodates 6 divers.

Parker is not too common here and she receives a lot of envious stares.

lovely, lovely boat.... we have her little sister, a 2530. i had the priveledge of getting to crawl around one of the first 2830s to roll off the line when they first started making them, its a really impressive boat.

on another note, im interested to hear that you use it primarily for diving. could you post up some pics of any modifications you made to accomodate divers? ive been interested in maybe doing some diving up north here, and i have a hard time seeing how more than maybe 3, 4 guys could splash off my 2530. id be interested to see how you run 6.

Cool boat! Do you have any other pics of the inside of the pilot house? I have the 2820 and didn't even know those existed. What are the differences in the two?

Okay, six divers EASILY off the boat was an exagerration, but it can be done. I will send pictures of the tank rack assembly.

The 2830 has more pilot house than 2820, but not as much cockpit room. Sometimes I would like to trade more cockpit room for pilot house room.

pictures would be great, thanks.

and i would NEVER trade my pilothouse for more 'pit. nothing like being able to lay back and relax on the 4 hour ride home than having to cram up in those little teeny side seats that straight up pilothouses have  (personal experience- i was begging for my bench seat one trip on a buddys boat). plus the fact of owning one of the coolest boats in the Parker line!!

Oh wow!

I didn't know they made a 2830 :!:

It isn't on Parkers Web Site . . . wazzupwitdat? :?:

It looks like you have a galley option as well.

Please take some shots of the inside of your Pilot House.

SWEET RIG rolfdawg

I can get 4 folks in my 2530 Pilot House for Tuna fishing. One on the Helm station, one on the Navigator station and two on the aft dinette bench seat (though it is kind of a scrunch).

My preference is 3 folks for Tuna fishing.

they dont manufacture the 2830 anymore... apparently, it was a sort of a pet boat of linwood's and it didnt sell too well. i personally love it.

and in terms of fitting people in the pilothouse, i can fit 5 to 6 easily.... one at the helm, one in the navigator's seat, one on the dinette bench, and one on the stbd bench seat... i am so glad i do not have the galley package. it would be totally useless for me, and i love having the space. but different strokes, i guess. :)

As it was explained to me at a Parker dealership in the Keys-- The 2820/30 was Parker's short term venture into the "live aboard" market.
They were trying to market a weekender setup, dinette, stove, frig, pump out toilet, etc to compete with small trawlers like the Rosborough 2400 series.
They were not satisfied with their performance in that market so reverted back and limited their hull lengths to 25 feet six inches. It was a marketing thing and had nothing to do with the product.
I saw a 28 footer once and would have purchased one if they had still been in production or if a used one had been on the market. They are great boats and very roomy.
I have a 2520 which provides for a shorter cabin and a larger cockpit, than the 2530. About eighty square feet actually. That configuration fits my use perfectly as we do ecology charters and I run on a six pack license that restricts me to six paying passengers.
West Marine sells a deck chair that costs about $200. I bought six and they are super comfortable and fit perfectly in my cockpit area leaving plenty of room for a 128 qt cooler adn for boarding and line handling. Don't confuse them with the "look-a-like" deck chair that sells for around $130. Different as day and night.

I am pleasantly surprised that Parker is still making the 2830. Why is it not on their list of offerings for 2008 at the company website?
Capt Hub

That is a Great looking Boat i can say that, and it def. looks like no problem for 6 in that cabin,it does look like a 2830 with that big cabin!!!

Thanks on all the compliments. She is a sweet boat, 6 or 7 can be in the cabin, four at the dinette, one at the helm and one or two standing.

Here are some pics diving the USS Oriskany, the great carrier reef, off Pensacola Fl.

rolfdog, couple of questions-- Where is the radio antenna? Does that little fan on your dash really help? I could use one in South Georgia occasionally if I am not running with the windows open.
Do you have a stove and if so what kind is it?

Capt Hub

Capt Hub, the radio antenna is lying down flush on the port side roof, though it is difficult to see in the photo. I usually do not extend it, the reception and transmission does not seem to be affected much. Also, it does not get whacked by going under bridges, whether on the water or towing, It is more visible in one of the photos at the top of the thread.

I have a single propane burner, Kenyon Kiss is the brand, It is seen in the photo of the galley package on another post, It has a propane canister that slides in and out. I am not into overnight camping and have only used it once to cook jiffy pop popcorn for a 4th of July fireworks show. The little refrigerator is useful however and gets quite cold.

The fan is from west marine and quite rusty but still works, It provides good ventilation for the helm station and good when windows are closed in the summer for rain. It is powered with a 9 volt adapter plug/outlet.
I do not have ac power option

I'm a little late here (lots of travel and getting boys ready for college) but welcome to our little piece of the world.

I'm a bit partial, but you will find it a great site full of lots of projects to help you use, maintain, and modify your great boat.
