The 6" round speaker mounted to the roof inside the house just aren't doing it for me. Does anyone have a recommendation for some good sounding "box" type speakers? If it were a home, I'd know exactly what I wanted (probably something from Polk or Energy), but for the marine environment, I'm at a loss...

One idea I am kicking around is to wire them with plugs and easily removable mounts inside the house. For the 90 minute drive to and from the fishing/diving grounds, they would be plugged inside, then when fishing or out on deck, I'd just unplug them and plug them into some receptacles outside under the roof edge (that are wired to the plugs inside). That way I only have to buy one pair of speakers, only have the weight of one pair, and only have to replace one pair when they rot out after three or four seasons... :)

Poly Planer under gunwale mount speakers.

They sound great, and you can't even see them when they are mounted.

"Ditto" with the Poly-planar
I have them also for 7 years now
2 inside the pilot house mounted to the ceiling
2 mounted under gunnel
They are water proof and great sound
two thumbs up!

I also recomend the stereo good power "water proof"

Those sound like the ticket! I love the under gunwale mount - that is slick. Did you screw up into the bottom of the railing, or some other method?

I screwed mine in, I think I needed shorter screws than what came with the kit.

Plenty of meat under there, its a Parker. 8)
