Well it was a sweltering 48 degrees here in CT yesterday so there was only one thing to do get to work on the boat! My cousin Bryan and I decided to cut some holes in my new Parker and install a Fusion stereo. The project went well, we moved the trim tab switch down a little and used the existing hole for the stereo screen. Mounted the I pod dock inside the v berth and then installed two speakers up forward. Everything works great and we where both pretty impressed with the marine stereo Fusion came out with, from the little time i played with it yesterday i highly recommend it! Next step mount the outside remote to the back of the pilot house, we will have to wait for the next warm day who knows when that will be

I was working on the adapter plate for mine this morning.

This unit is pretty cool for you guys that have your music on Ipods or flash drives. I got the same one Miky did and am just starting the instal, I used the 2320 as a guinea pig before I cut into the 2530. 8)

Main problem is the steering wheel, we actually cut out the radio hole from the back with a rotozip, which I don't think I can do, too much stuff in the way.

My plan is to get a 160gb Ipod, should be able to hold my huge CD collection so no more CD's rolling around the boat.

Also proud to report after cutting into the helm station we revealed that the bulkhead is just over an inch thick, i was pleased to find this, Parker sure does build a solid boat.

Started on my install today of the same unit. I also relocated the trim switch but I am putting it next to the throttle which required moving a lot of the wiring around.

Everything pictured is just sitting in place right now, I'll finish it up next weekend.

Miky also has some pics to post of holes we cut into the 2320.

To Be Continued.......

I will get some pics up tomorrow of few more projects going on, we sure are cutting a lot of holes !!!

Bryan and I are getting good at installing these fusion stereos, on Saturday we installed the outside remote on my 2320. It was a little nerve racking cutting a 3 in hole in the back of my pilot house but we went for it (for some reason Bryan wasn't very nervous) I think it had something to do with the fact it wasn't his boat  . But anyways its done and works great, it will be a nice feature when fishing to have full control of the stereo from the cockpit with out having to go in and out of the pilot house.

Nice job on the installs... I too have the Fusion, and have no complaints other than it getting REALLY hot really quickly. One note of caution for the placement at the helm: Line of sight should be direct as possible as it relates to your pilot position and the display...additionally, Polarized sunglasses will make the display doubly difficult to read.

Cheers!

Thanks for the info, we did take that into consideration before mounting to make sure it was visible from all angles while at the helm, so far i am pretty impressed with the stereo, only one on the market with a 5 year warranty and only one advertised as 100% waterproof, nice not to have to worry about cd's all over the boat or skipping etc.....

Finally got around to installing my Fusion Stereo remote today, this things makes washing the boat alot more enjoyable when you don't have to run inside to adjust volume or control the ipod.

Cutting a 3" hole in the back of the pilot house was a little un-nerving.
(anyone got a suggestion for the mold in the caulk?)

Spray 100% bleach and let it soak for 15 minutes worked for me. If the mold is in deep, you might have to cut the caulk with a razor blade to let the bleach in.

That's because the mold is in deep. The bleach kills the top stuff but drips/dries off before getting to the deep stuff. You have to surgically make shallow cuts in the caulk to let the bleach in. Or maybe use a hypodermic needle filled with beach.
