    Yamaha F225 Maintenance Heads Up

No, mine didnt look similar. I actually had a salt pile on the base of the spark plug.

    Yamaha F225 Maintenance Heads Up

No. The 2003 F225 has the ignition coil mounted on the block with wires going to the plugs. I believe your 2006 F250 has the ignition coil sitting directly on top of the plug. Which is what you posted.

    Replacing my batteries

I run 2 Interstate Group 29's. I dont like manually switching batteries and I've had issues where a low battery causes my electronics to drop out on an engine start so Im getting away from the 1-both-2 switch. Im going to try out one of those BlueSea setups with a switch that isolates house...

    Yamaha F250 zincs

Not sure what the $170 covered, but 4 anodes and 4 grommets on a F225 costs $40. I just ordered from this site www.boats.net Dont know if you saw my other post but my grommets were all torn up and needed replacing bad. Dom

    Yamaha F225 Maintenance Heads Up

Just wanted to give a heads up on some maintenance items I ran across this year on my 2003 F225. Lower Motor Mount Bolts - I remove the starboard cowl every year for oil changes. The starboard motor mount bolt can then be seen and looks perfect. This year, I enlisted the help of my dad to do...

    Swim platform zinc

Hey, good post. Ive noticed issues with all of the fasteners that secure my bracket to the transom as well as the area around the swim ladder. In my case too, my zinc looks like the original (2003 Parker). Each year, the zinc loses very little, if any, and just gets coated with slime, small...

    Survey Prior to Purchase ?

If you are using any financing, you probably need one. If paying cash or HELOC, then obviously not. I bought my Parker used and the people selling it were not the operator of the boat. So I made the sale contingent on a passing survey and successful sea-trial. A survey can't uncover...

    Question!!! Shore Power

On these size boats, I think its personal choice. I'm actually spending the $$ and hooking it up for one main reason ... because I want air conditioning for those hot humid nights that I do sleep on the boat.

    Issues with f225 yamaha

Did you check the travel on your throttle cable and adjustments at your throttle link?

thanks guys , should I get the windlass or not

Another vote for the windlass. Makes life a lot easier. Ive got a Horizon 900. No complaints here. My friends who have been on the bow of other boats just smile as they sit dry in the pilot house and watch me push a button.

    Dead Washdown Pump

Ive got a 2003 2520XL and that pic of the bus bar is EXACTLY how mine looked and is what caused my washdown pump to work intermittently. I replaced it before this season started.

Show us your helm....... Updated Late Summer 2007

First shot is an older pic. I've since added a FF guage and my big improvement this year was those 2 momentary switches you see in the second pic just above the throttle. They operate the wipers. I hated trying to find the wiper switches in that panel. Especially when you're in rough...

How did you keep the elec panel door open on a 2520?

Funny, thats been on my project list for a while. Havent decided what to do yet. Was thinking about one of those spring supports but am not sure yet.

What's with the 'negative comments' about notched transoms?

I have to agree that it depends on the boat. Unfortunately, I havent had the pleasure of fishing off of one of the good boats. I used to own a 1988 Wellcraft with a notched transom. Not only was it notched, it was just wide open. (See below). That thing was terrible. All it took was a...

    Parker horns

Just an observation, but we always tend to blame the horn for failing. The location is a factor too. Sitting up on the pilothouse, they catch a lot of spray and tend to crap out over time. If you look at the horn placement on most large sportfish boats, they are almost always pointed down, so...

    2520XL Grab Rail Size

Rangerdog, have any pics? Channel_surfer, welcome. I'll see you around the water. Boat's name is Reel Occasion, docked on Tuckerton Creek.

    2520XL Grab Rail Size

Anyone know offhand what size the grab rail is on the sides of the cabin? Boat is down in the slip so I can't check till Sat. The reason Im asking is because my net-man (my dad) is 'vertically challenged' and has trouble getting the net down from the rocket launchers. As a result, I lost a...

    Lowrance fuel flow sensor

I purchased the LMF200 with the EP10 fuel flow sensor and have had no luck with the product. I cant get it to read the flow properly. I was thinking my issue was sensor placement but based on other comments, I think its just a bad product. Im going to mess with it again this weekend and see...
