    Battery question

While we are taking Optima batteries another benefit is you can use a deep-cycle version for your starting battery. With standard wet cells this is normally a no no and will eventually damage them. FWIW I put a single red top in my chevy diesel, replacing two heavy-duty starting batteries. At...

    Fuel use question?

or you could say that as "...all the money saved buying used is lost if you repower." If all goes well I do plan on keeping it a long time.

    Fuel use question?

Thanks guys. I am coming around to thinking the difference is probably pretty significant. That said and new 4 strokes running $20-25K is it really worth buying a boat that isn't already rigged with one? I think it would need to be a hell of a deal on a super clean boat.

    Fuel use question?

Nothing exact, just wondering if a late model yamaha will get 2.5-3mpg all else equal what will a good tuned up carb version get? 2-2.5mpg? 1.5-2mpg? 25% more fuel? twice as much fuel? Anyone have any personal experience going from one to the other?

    Fuel use question?

Not really sure which forum to put this in. I have been "internet" shopping used CC boats for quite a while now. Very nice and clean, late 90's model Parkers seem to show up fairly often. Especially if you don't mind driving. Many will have same year Johnsons on them which I assume are...

    That Darned Box Grid....

I wonder if parker will EVER give in to the pressure and start using foam core in place of wood? Not that I think they need too, just seems the thing to do these days by the majority.

    REPOWER WITH MERC OR EVENRUDE

Great comparison Reely! I almost wonder if your Striper would have been a little more efficient with more horses. Seems like a lot of boat for a single 225. I tend to agree, 2-strokes were great back in the day. Now not so much with the leaps and bounds 4-strokes have made. We have had awesome...

For sale 1998 2300 Parker center console CLEAN! (SOLD)

BTT for a super nice ride! Curious how the stern layout is? Does it have the seats in each corner like the SE models? Surprising you have not sold her yet. If I was ready you would be hearing from me!

    Distributor question

I am sure Volvo has a recommended interval, sorry couldn't tell you what it is. In automotive applications this engine (350 TBI) has been around since about 1987. I am sure there were plenty of pickups with this engine that went over 100K without a tune up. I would have imagined the change...

    Distributor question

I can't say exactly about your particular application but back in the day the old GM HEI cap and rotor lasted a LONG time. Several years on daily drivers. Is your engine actually misfiring? Typically you shouldn't have any issues until the contacts actually begin to wear. I would guess the...

    Launching and Picking Up Alone

Very nice picture! Your park there is nice too LOL Many launch places down here in Texas don't have the ramp docks. The easiest way around this is just don't go alone. When I have no choice I usually step out onto the winch post as others have said with the OB idling in gear.

    downrigger?

We have a couple Penn Fathom Master 24s mounted on the quick mounts for rod holders. They have lived through three different boats now and will be moved to a fourth in the near future. We split the spool on one but fixed it up with a new one from Penn. Other then that they have been flawless...

    UnderPowered motor ?

There are 225hp and 250hp versions of the 300hp design too. I can't help but suspect the current F-series v6s will be going bye-bye. Just need a 200 to round the lineup out. Maybe that will come from applying the same technology to an I-4 block? i.e. ~F150 edit: Scratch that I forgot they...

    Parker 23 DVCC w/ bracket

Your right fish, I think the 23 Parker is likely plenty, especially since money will always be an OBJECT. As far as i can tell the 23 DVCC has as much or more room then most 25s I have looked at. Problem is I have 4 kiddos, a wife, and grand parents. Not that all of us will be fishing off-shore...

    Parker 23 DVCC w/ bracket

Great info thanks! It sounds like 35' is the way most 23's are sold. Moving right along.... would a 25DV be much longer? Obviously the boat is 2' longer (and a foot wider) but I am wondering if the typical trailer is any longer then the one under a 23. Basically what I am getting at is if a...
