OPINION ON BEST GPS ELECTRIC TROLLING MOTOR FOR 2018 23SE

It's absolutely a viable option. Very popular addition these days for exactly what you're talking about." "The Best" will depend on a few things. Local dealer support, integration with electronics, etc. The two big ones are Minn Kota and Rhodan, both of which offer saltwater models with a...

Has anyone added an aftermarket t-top?

I'd agree with Warthog. I've never yet seen one of the aftermarket, one-size-fits-most, buy on the internet models that actually looks good when installed. Can't help you with a local top shop, but I can advise you not to go the other route.

    2300 DV bow storage insulated

What are you trying to do with them? Even if they're insulated, the lids don't create much of an airtight seal, and the insulation is probably spray foam at best. All in all, they're likely to be equal to or less effective than a mediocre cooler. If you're trying to keep ice in there for any...

Parker 2120, want to add a Garmin 126sv in the cabin

Can't give you any specific guidance as far as adding a screen goes, other than your best bet may be to add it to the overhead. The space on the 2120/2320 style console is tight without some major modifications, which can be found in some older threads on here. I will say that the addition of a...

Bennet Tabs on my 2300DV - Observations and ?'s

This is correct. Tabs will work fine but will stay in whatever position you last adjusted them to when the power is shut off. Another option is to connect the orange wire directly to the house fuse panel, rather than the key switch. That way, they won't auto retract when the key is shut off...

    Garmin Fantom Radar Question

Silverstreek is in the right way of thinking here. Generally speaking, when it comes to electronics, buy the most up to date models you can get. They come at a price premium, but will remain relevant, supportable, and will work with other upcoming electronic equipment for the longest possible...

    Steering Wheel Knob Recommendations

That’s very interesting. I never even thought that a knob could pose enough of a resistance to mess up an autopilot. Was it causing the autopilot to behave erratically? Or was it tripping out the override sensor/SteadySteer/ShadowDrive/etc.?

    Boat Wanted LTB 2530 DV

There’s a couple on the market right now, which is unusual. Both on the east coast though, I believe.

    Armstrong Deck Plates

You're not likely to find a true watertight pie plate that will remain watertight for any significant length of time. The issue is that, unless it's plumbed for drainage, rainwater or water on deck will get into the "gap" in the lid where the screw-in or pop-out section meets the frame. Figure...

    Steering Wheel Knob Recommendations

I’ll vouch for the Edson. Extremely good quality, solid beefy construction, well built, well designed, just a great piece of gear. Hasn’t moved a millimeter since I installed it, and spins like a smooth bearing. It doubles as a fidget spinner while driving 😂 I put mine at 6 o’clock since that...

Parker 1800 - Yeti Seat Upgrade and Running Board

Nice modification! I use an RTIC 65 as a forward cooler. With the cushion, it’s the exact same height as the forward console seat so it doubles as a lounge for the significant other 😂

After 15 years, modernizing the electronics

You’re going to enjoy that setup. When you’ve got another $1500 to play with, grab yourself a NAC-2 autopilot pack to add to your system. Seamless integration, and very good performance.

    21se Trolling Motor Project

You’re describing the shortcomings of a poorly designed and laid out system, not an inherently flawed one. In mine, the breaker is located within easy reach of the door. Adding a switch would not make securing power any easier. It would, however, add two more connections and another point of...

    21se Trolling Motor Project

Yes and yes. Generally, it’s as simple as fabricating a new cable from the breaker to the switch.
  15. pelagic2530

    21se Trolling Motor Project

Essentially yes, and you should absolutely charge it with the breaker open. The only downside is the breaker *can* eventually wear out from being used as a switch, even though it’s designed that way. Apparently others have seen them break from repeatedly being opened and closed. If you’re not...

What kind of setup do you know to run ac? And what are people running ?

You could probably do it, for a couple hours, if you wanted to spend a fortune on Li-Ion batteries and hack up your boat making a ton of space to mount them. But you’re going to end up with an expensive, poorly functioning system that doesn’t end up meeting your expectations. So as others have...

What subscriptions/services do you have related to your boat?

BoatUS, Navionics+ for smartphone, FishRules (premium lets you download rules and regulations for offshore areas without cell signal) and Windy Premium (last one is for work, but it's usually dead on).

    mold

You do you. If you're the only one working on your boat, I suppose it doesn't hurt anything. If I come across a boat with sealant on the hose connections, that's pretty much automatically another hour of labor cost and additional materials for replacing the hose. If you have to cut and replace...

    mold

I'm not sure if this is a typo or not, but just to clarify something for the general knowledge bank: DO NOT, under any circumstances, put sealant on hose barbs before installing the hose. It is COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY and makes removal/replacement of the hose ten times harder, regardless of the...

    Parker Cleaning product questions

You do want to watch what you use this stuff on, as it (as well as comparable products like StarBrite hull cleaner, etc.) will take off any wax coating that is on the hull as well, which can lead to more/faster scum buildup since there's no protective layer. This is great to use at the end of...
