I moved the batteries from bilge to the console and put the "house" battery switch and the "engine" battery(ies) switch inside the sliding door located under the steering wheel (the sliding door in front of your knees/leg).
The switches are easy to access here. And are protected from the...
Finally!! You finally pried open the wallet and purchased an AP for the 2801? Good to hear! This will make the trips to the Middle Grounds (and beyond) so much easier.
It appears that you mounted the pump in the console. That's a good spot for it. I've mounted 2 pumps in that location in...
Yes ..... you can do it with a bottle jack and lift the entire trailer...... block the hull to keep it elevated then lower the trailer. Make sure you have some jackstands to keep the boat from tipping over (obviously).
You might find the process easier with a floor jack. More range. More...
That boat will get 4+ mpg.
Of a 40 gallon tank, figure that 36 is usable giving you 144 miles of range. Carry 2 extra 5-gallon jugs of gas and now you are capable of 184 miles round trip.
Many days are flat calm off the NJ (Mid-Atlantic coastline) and there is no difference running 60...
Wart is correct and I did the same.
You can replace parts as they fail. SeaStar helm is fully interactive with a UFlex ram and vise versa. As are the hoses and fittings.
The Uflex system is very impressive and, in my opinion, more robust compared to SeaStar. That said, I have a complete SeaStar system on my current boat (twin engine, single ram, power steering pump with autopilot assist) and am very happy with it. But if I had my choices, I definitely go with...
Wart - I've used the Awlgrip "course" non-skid. And what you heard is 100% correct. It is very course. It's probably best suited for work boats and commercial vessels where passangers always wear boots and pants. If you fall onto a deck covered in Awlgrip course non-skid, you'll probably...
I've tested many different props on a 23 DVCC and a 25MV as well as a 2801. I have posted about my experiences in much greater detail than what I'll do here now ..... you can search my posting history to see these posts as well as detailed commentary and empherical data (graps too).
In...
The non-skid referenced ^^^^ by Wart is the same I used.
I've used both 2-part Awlgrip and single part Brightside paint. Awlgrip is nice. But expensive and very toxic. And not user friendly. And will wear-out after 5-10 years.
Single part paints are cheap and easy to apply. Not toxic...
Mary Kate "ON-Off" will remove the rust stains. $14 on Amazon.
Some bleach will kill the rest.
I agree with the ^^^^^^. Nothing wrong with the boat; it just needs some cleaning. If you want to get crazy, spend $500 to have the hull compounded and a coat of wax
Great looking boat. Looks very well cared.
And love MDI ..... although right about now I'm guessing that you're getting ready for ice fishing on Jordan Pond and dreaming about striped bass in June.
Capt Matt - This is the one I installed in my 23 DVCC. Yes, pricey when new. I bought it off a FB marketplace site based in Maine. The lobsterfisherman don't mind spending $$ on their boats and they frequently upgrade. I bought mine for$150...
Short answer - Yes
I could post dozen of pictures of a 23 DVCC and a 2801 taken 100+ miles offshore from Clearwater.
The boat can easily do the trip. The better question is the person behind the spinny-round thing. Does he (she) have the knowledge of boat operation, weather systems, boat...
Get some more numbers including WOT and graph in Excel.
I would think that your boat with an F250 4.2l would easily be able to spin a 17" Mirage Plus prop to 5800 RPM.
Given the cost of new props, and overall performance, the Mirage Plus is hard to beat. Yes, there are other props that...
