1801 & Minn Kota Riptide Terrova Quest

I am posting this back on my own thread in case this will help others who might be switching their trolling motor to the new Minn Kota Quest Models (Riptide Terrova or Instinct Quest models for example). I will be spending more time on this over the weekend and I'll update this thread with any...

    New to me 1801

I did not because I also had my shop do the cable to hydraulic steering at the same time, along with some other work I had done at that time. They are not difficult to install though. Hardest part is running the wires up to your console, but as long as you have a wire snake it is doable. Most...

    New to me 1801

I have the same boat, just older. Things I have added in addition to what you already have on yours. 1. Raw Water Washdown 2. Trolling motor (if you fish) + batteries & charger. 3. Trolling motor may require you to move your nav light. I went with Taco Surface Mount LED lights & love them. 4...

Parker 1800 - Yeti Seat Upgrade and Running Board

I also ordered my leaning post from Elevation Marine & could not be happier with this swap from the original. I added three 0 degree or vertical rod holders in order to make navigating around the stern with rods in the holders much easier. Additionally, I went with a 33" wide vs. the standard...

    Suzuki DF150A Parker 1801

Weighing in here as I repowered my 1801 from a 2-stroke 150 HP Yamaha to a 4 stroke 150HP Yamaha. The 2 stroke def had a faster time to plane, but sucked down fuel. I believe I was getting around ~1-1.5 MPG on a good day. Now the 4 stroke 150 I am getting 3.5 MPG in the same conditions &...

1801 & Minn Kota Riptide Terrova Quest

Yup. This is for the 60" shaft. That also doesn't include the beefy quick release bracket which weighs around 8lbs. That is minimal, but 50lbs more on the bow seems like a lot. I imagine I could put 50lbs of weight up there & take it for a cruise & see how it handles, but I was just curious...

1801 & Minn Kota Riptide Terrova Quest

Has anyone installed the new Minn Kota Riptide Terrova Quest on their 1801? I currently have a MotorGuide XI5 (MG) on mine but considering upgrading to this newer model. However my concern is the almost double weight moving from my current MG trolling motor (~50lbs) to the Minn Kota Quest...

    Weight considerations: repowering a 98' 1800?

just weighing in with my experience here. I have a 2006 1801 that I repowered with a 150 4 stoke Yamaha & I typically cruise between 25-30 mph with a top speed/WOT at 44 mph. I have a 17 pitch yamaha prop. That 44 mph is fully loaded with full gas, 2-200lb guys, two coolers & all fishing...

    Front head light - 21SE T-Top

I circled the nav light in this picture.

    Front head light - 21SE T-Top

This is what I installed on my 1801. I replaced the standard Nav Light with side mounted taco lights and to avoid drilling additional holes, I built a mounting platform out of 1/2" starboard & leveraged the existing holes from the standard nav light. Because my trolling motor is there, I had...

    1801 Rocker Panel circuit breaker

Thank you all for the input!

    1801 Rocker Panel circuit breaker

Correct that is what I am referring to. I rewired the entire boat over this winter & replaced the existing wire with new 10ga wire. Thank you for the assistance.

    1801 Rocker Panel circuit breaker

Anyone have a link to the correct size rocker circuit breakers for the 1801? I have a breaker I want to up in size (RAW Water washdown), since the breaker I have installed (7 amp I believe) is to small & will trip after running the pump for 1 min. Max draw on my pump is 20 amps so the breaker...

About to purchase a new 1801

I have a 2006 1801 that I just repowered with a 150HP 4-stroke from a 150HP 2-stroke. I agree with all comments, that 4 people, unless they are smaller people like kids 10-13 years old small, fishing 4 people/adults is not great, but doable. 3 adults is comfortable, but 2 is ideal/perfect...

1801 owners and former owners PLEASE RESPOND

If you put a trolling motor on & you ever plan to run at night, you’ll want to look at different running lights. I used the Taco marine surface mount LED lights & they work great!

    Planning Speed/RPM 1801

Thanks Puck-n-Fish. I actually had my cable replaced with hydraulic steering last year. I now have 2 finger steering vs. 1-2 hand steering. The Edison knob also works wonders!

    Planning Speed/RPM 1801

Thanks for all the replies. I've completed my 10 hour break-in on this new motor. I was NOT able to get on plane at 2K, but once I was up on plane & near the end of the 10 hour break-in period, I was able to cruise comfortably at 30-35MPH around ~42-45 RPMs while achieving 4-4.5 MPG. It is...

    Planning Speed/RPM 1801

Thank you Puck-n-fish! I suspect the same but only true time will tell. Do you have the 150 or 115? Also what prop are you running?

    Planning Speed/RPM 1801

I just got a new motor mounted on my boat and I am about to do the break in time on this motor. Can anyone weigh in on if this 1801 boat with a 150 HP 4 stoke will get on plane at 2,000 rpm’s? Trying to determine if I’ll have a slow go at this range or if I’ll be able to cruise. I do have...

    1801 Fuel Line Replacement?

Awesome! Thank you. I’ll give this a go when I get the boat back. I rewired my entire boat so I am already familiar with these tight spaces. I appreciate the feedback!
