    My 2520; splashed this week

Tombro, Thanks for posting the pix of your new ride! She really is a beauty, but of course I'm more than just a little biased! I am very sure you will be super pleased with your "Retirement Boat". Please post some pix of your adventures. Cap'n Dan

    Pulling Trolling Motor Wires

Very helpful...Thanks! Will be installing a trolling motor on my 1800 in a couple of weeks - motor on order now. The soft copper tubing sounds like a pretty good trick, I will definately be trying that! Cap'n Dan

    Pulling Trolling Motor Wires

Puck-n-Fish, Which direction did you push? From the top of fuel line channel, or from inspection port (pie plate)? Cap'n Dan

    2005 2520scxl 250hp Yamaha repower

Here's my actual (not based on my old feeble memory) numbers from this weekend. Sweet spot 3800 rpms, 26 knots (29.9 mph), 12.5 gph & 2.4 mpg. Still love my twin 200's. Cap'n Dan

Strength of 2520 2019 pilot house door how strong?

The door is made of aluminum. I personally would not want to hang anything on it. My fire extinguisher is mounted on the upper aft port corner inside my pilot house. As far as a folding table goes, we keep a folding teak table outboard of the seat behind the helm - it stows perfectly here. I...

    Wanted !! 1999-2010 2320 or 2520

Andy said "heck, even BOTH"... I am pretty lucky, my piermate has a 2320 and I have have a 2520, so we get to enjoy the best of both worlds as they go go with us and we go with them. There is much difference between the two and as Andy says above trailerability is a big one. I also trailer my...

    2005 2520scxl 250hp Yamaha repower

I totally agree with Antidote above. My twin 200's offer excellent maneuverability at the dock without ever touching the wheel. I have three blade props and top out at about 51 mph, that's on a 2520 XLD deep vee hull. Sweet spot around 3500 - 3600 rpms, around 27 mph and 2.3 mpg's. I LOVE my...

    Window shade ideas?

Hi Tony Gio, welcome to CP! The previous owner of my 2520 had a local marine canvas shop make a shade for the windshield on my boat. It even has little velcroed covers for the wiper blades. Very easy on & off. I'm sure the same could be done for the side windows. Here's a pic of my set up...

    2520 Underpowered with Twin 150's?

Bigyin33, I have a 2019 2520 XLD with twin 200's and as Andy stated above I have never wished for less horsepower. My performance pretty well matches what is shown on Yamaha's performance Bulletin. One thing to consider is the 150 and 200 weigh the same and will require the same maintenence, so...

    Buying a 2540 DC - Spec Questions

Welcome to CP JLR! While not an exact match in all respects, the 2520 XLD has the same running bottom and similar weight as the 2540 (although Parker lists the 2540 as the heavier boat at 6220# vice the 2520 at 5800#). The attached Perfromance Bulletin should be very close. Cap'n Dan

    1997 1700 Overhaul Project

Norva made a new windshield for my 1800 a couple years back. They absolutely do a great job on fabrication and are also a terrific source for all sorts of plastics for the boat. If you need a small piece of something (like Starboard), they will hunt around in their scrap bin and usually find...

A-K, Where do you work? I retired from SUPSHIP Newport News. Cap'n Dan

    Hardware staining and rust

Stainless steels are stain less, not stain proof. Both 304 and 316 stainless can show evidence of rusting, but 316 is more resistant to corrosion from chlorides so it is the favored marine service stainless grade. Both grades work by means of a passive layer that develops on the surface of the...
