    serious drain plug thought

1-Parker installs their drains in transom, BELOW the wood reinforcement, in solid fiberglass. 2-In the event of a transom drain plug failing, won't leak while boat is on plane. Not so with a hole in bottom. 3-The flange of a thru bottom drain plug only adds resistance and disturbs water under...

Last run of 2007 for the Megabyte

NOAA Saturday forcast lower Cape Fear...W wind 10k, 70 degrees. Plenty of kings just offshore (small 10-25#'s). Around here, "East is least, West is Best" for fishing. I've called everyone I know, all busy w/Christmas stuff. Admiral, my regular fishing partner is busy this weekend. Arrrrrgggg.

    Peeling Bottom Paint Problems

I'm no bottom paint expert (and hope I never have to be one). Isn't the first step to sand gloss off bottom?

    Ride of the 2820XL

Not too sure about "sharper entry", deadrise is measured at transom. I will qualify that by saying there are a few boat companies selling flat bottomed boats and advertising deadrise at bow, I assume to confuse public.

New 23 DVCC with walk-in head

If you leave out the optional "cooler insert" under front console seat, you would have a two and one half foot by one foot access hole. I slide 5 gallon buckets in and out of console, not to mention at 6'5" and 200#'s, I can lay inside console for rigging). :? IMO, the new toilet console...

Yamaha 225 Salt Water Series II problem

Most Parkers have an in-line filterbase in the bilge. Simply replace current cartridge w/the big blue Yamaha 10 micron filter. It screws on. The filter sells for about $14.50, if you order thru Shipyard Island marina. Some people like the Racor screw on filter (also fits existing base, I...

    Choosing right size tabs

Bennett Marine says at least 1 inch chord for every foot of boat. In your case minimum 18x9. Your lucky as Parkers have traditional flat transoms (no cutesy styling offsets) and you can add all the tab you want.

Share your anchoring tips and tricks

About the same as B-Faithful's, except you don't need a chartplotter....approach your #'s, when you get there, shift to neutral and let boat drift off. Look at GPS and follow the compass heading back to waypoint, go past #'s throw anchor and set. Let boat drift back letting out line until...
