    Safety Reminder....

Has anyone noticed it is almost never just one thing that sinks a boat? Every grounding/sinking I have heard of includes a combination of... battery weak bilge pump not working roughed up after we got there low on fuel anchor line too short/didn't hold/fouled in prop radio didn't work got dark...

Share your anchoring tips and tricks

I fought heavy anchors and poor sets for years. I bought a "real" Danforth brand (something like #5HT) and all my troubles are gone. :D The thing only weighs 5 pounds, HT stands for high tensile. Put on 8' of (I forget) 1/4 or 3/8 of stainless steel chain and no more roughed up hands or...

    TRANSDUCER RECOMMENDATION

"Is 1000 watt transducer overkill" I think the transducer has to match the output of depthfinder. For up to 200' or so, I would think 500 watts would be plenty at either 50 or 200. I fish MOL the same depths as you (have the same hull) and could not be more satisified with Airmar tilted...

    Safety Reminder....

That's sad. The topic of hanging an anchor line in a prop keeps coming up. Seems to be striper fishermen. The only way I see to put anchor line in prop is to anchor off stern. There was a fishermen w/SeaSwirl (I believe) that was almost washed off his boat, trying to lean over and free...

WTB: Raised Electronics Box & Windsheild for 23SE CC

From memory...the electronics cabinet is secured to console with (maybe) 12 very small wood screws. They screw into the wood backing that forms the top of console. I would definately use 5200 to form a bond between console and electronics cabinet. I had reason to remove my cabinet at one time...

    Electronics Survey, Your Choice?

I need to cover around 20-150' water. DaleH, never thought about splitting screen w/a 12" long depthfinder  What a POS. I would hope the 10" NavNet would/could split vertically half and half. I can't find the screen size on a 10" NavNet. I wonder if the screen size of NavNet is 2x...

    Electronics Survey, Your Choice?

Which would you choose, why? 1-Furuno 10" NavNet and sounder (makes it a split screen depthfinder) 2-2 Furuno GP 7000's. One used as GPS, one as depthfinder 3-Furuno GP 7000 GPS, and Furuno 585 depthfinder Believe it or not, all three systems $3,000-$3300.00. My goal is large screens, easy...
