    Tempress Slam Hatch refresh

Greetings, I am the second owner of a 2002 2510 and noticed the Tempress Slam Hatch lids were tired and dirty looking after 20 years of exposure. Maybe there is a simple cleaning and polishing to bring these back which I am not aware of. I opted for a quick refresh with spray epoxy paint. 1...

I just purchased these based on your recommendation and love it on this 51 year old center console I use at work,(not a Parker). I fashioned an aluminum backing plate and through-bolted it to the console. Thanks!

Great to hear! I'm sure you will enjoy the boat with the quality time you spend on it. It seems replacing the 'magic' filters did the trick. Thanks!

    2004 Yanaha 200 HPDI

Good point. Rod, if you have the patience you may want to check your two low pressure fuel pumps; especially since you pointed out yesterday your primer bulb was faulty. Below is a photo from the Yamaha service manual for checking these simple fuel pumps. Good luck with the mechanic if you go...

    2004 Yanaha 200 HPDI

Good morning Rod, Thank you for your update! BTW-was the filter in the VST dirty? When I bought my used Parker 4 years ago the previous owner advised me to Always pump the primer bulb firmly before starting to avoid damaging the low pressure pumps. Your low pressure pumps may be weak; if they...

Hello Rod, I suggest you check the operation of your neutral safety switch to see if it may play a role in your limited RPM. Thanks!

    2004 Yanaha 200 HPDI

Hello Rod, FYI - you likely already know this: HPDI's have a safety feature to avoid over-revving; they need to be in gear to go over 1200 rpm. When flushing my engines on the trailer I will remove the props and carefully put them in gear to rev to 2500-3000 rpm or so to help them warm up. I...

Gel coat cracks around drain plug

Looking better! I have used Thixo epoxy for filling and bonding the gelcoat stress crack areas you ground out; it is a flexible epoxy made by TotalBoat/Jamestown. Thanks!

2 part marine epoxy to waterproof windlass holes?

Great choice with the West System 650 for this project and future projects. As a gentle reminder, below is a link to West System's guidance for surface preparation. Please note that cured epoxy can result in an amine blush on the epoxy surface which must be removed to permit subsequent bonding...

2 part marine epoxy to waterproof windlass holes?

I just read the specs on the Bondo fiberglass resin link you included from Lowe's. It's fascinating that it says it is 100% waterproof because.... it's not. Sometimes you just gotta pick your guru and go with the advice for your project. Thanks!

2 part marine epoxy to waterproof windlass holes?

Yes, that is the gorilla glue epoxy that can work. If you have not worked with epoxy before bear in mind this has a five minute working time and it will become viscous and kick pretty quickly. To thin it I suggested denatured alcohol at no more than 20% by volume. Again, you should plan to work...

2 part marine epoxy to waterproof windlass holes?

I understand your frustration; West System is not inexpensive to invest in. If you were located near me I would gladly dispense a pump each of the resin and hardener in two small containers so you could get your job done. Some practitioners will thin epoxy, after mixing the resin and hardener...

2 part marine epoxy to waterproof windlass holes?

For sealing exposed wood I recommend you use an epoxy that is less viscous. I am not familiar with this Loctite epoxy; I imagine it is a good product in general although it may behave more like a paste and not penetrate and seal the wood fibers as well as a liquid epoxy. Thanks!

    Deck Mounting Area 2320

The process is relatively simple and requires some knowledge of epoxy preparation and application. I suggest you search Google and YouTube for West System Fastener Bonding to learn more. Thanks!
