i have a 2002 150 hp ox66 with 500 hours. Engined was professionally tuned last season and I changed all filters, including VST this spring. She starts, idles and runs fine but will just stall with no warning after 5 or 6 miles. I've has VST issues in past, hit a wake and engine bogs down then roars back, this is completely different. It is as if she is running out of gas. Cruising along at 4000 rpm and just comes to a stop, no sputterring or missing. My guess is it is runnning off whatever fuel is in the VST tank and once that is used she cuts out. If I pump the ball from time to time it seems to delay the stalling so maybe the fuel pump isn't working?

If you can pump the ball while it is sputtering and it fixes the problem, more likely than not its your low pressure pumps that are failing. There job is to keep the VST tank filled with fuel.

They should be changed every 2-3 years anyways, and its a simple and in-expensive fix you can do yourself.

To check lp pumps, loosen the bolts from crankcase and pump the ball. If anything come out of them they are bad. The diagrams get pin holes and tear. Very easy way to check and as said should be done routinely every couple of years.
