Out to SW Middle Gounds Ches Bay , July 3, 150 Yamaha w/65 hours eats crankshaft counter balance nylon gear and distributes thru-out the oling system which plugs everything , overheats and locked her up tight. Had to be towed in . Will be nearly $8,000 grand worth of warranty work. Makes me question this powerplant , Tristate say's they've never seen this in the F150 before. ( maybe it was jinxed because it's on a Grady 208) Any body looking for a low hour 208 Adventue?

Don't be discouraged ... ALL brands have infantile failures! One noted toona guide up here repowered with twin Suzi 4-strokes and one detonated in the 1st hour of the break-in period.

This is THE 1st Yamaha 150hp 4-stroke I have EVER heard of having a major problem! They have proven to be a reliable and powerful motor.

Keep us posted ...

Mine is at 450 hours (an '04) and runs like it was bought yesterday. Sorry yours had a lockup. Hope you are on the water soon.

A commercial crabber here had to completely rebuild the lower unit on his
150. The power head was fine. Of course the best estimate they could make on the hours was around ten thousand.
That was the answer I got when I asked my mechanic that with 450 hours on my twins when should I expect a major overhaul.
