I need to replace the battery in the starboard jumpseat on my 1801 but it looks like the oil tank is in the way. Has anyone had this problem before? It's the firts time i've had to replace the battery since i've owned the boat so i'm not sure what the easiest way to get around this is. do i need to remove the oil reservior in order to get the battery out? if i do need to remove the reservoir, can I rearrange it so that i won't have to remove it the next time?

thanks in advance for any help.

The older 1801 I had a few years ago had two batteries and a 3 way switch in the starboard compartment and the oil resivor in the port compartment. Don't know if it came that way from Parker or if a previous owner changed it. My 2000 21SE was set up the same way. I'd consider searating them if it were me.

You don't need to take the oil tank out. Once the battery has the cables off and the battery hold-downs off, turn the battery counter clockwise (as viewed from the stern) and you can lift it out of the compartment.
