I have a 2008 ...1801 w/115 yam. When I trim the engine fully down it doesn't seem to pull the bow down like I am used to with my past boats. Usually when the engine is trimmed down completely I can feel the bow actually trying to plow some. With this 1801 it's not like that at all.
Is there anyway to adjust the engine to get it down a little deeper over 90
degrees to pull the bow down more or is that the personality of these 1801's. Mine seems to be somewhat stern heavy, with 2 people on the captain's seat with just 1 battery and the livewell empty unless I have some weight up front.

I have a 2003 1801, with two batteries in back but no live-well. I think that this bow-high attitude is just how the 1801 rides. Probably the only way to really change this is with trim tabs.

I have the same boat as you and also had the same problem with getting the bow down. I just installed a set of Bennett M120 tabs, this should solve the problem. I have not used the boat yet this year, but from what I have been told it should ride much better.

Hi North Shore Boater,

Did you take any pictures while you were installing your Bennetts? [Apologies to mildew2; I'm hijacking the thread.]

I would like to do exactly the same on my 1801. I saw you got a ton of tips from other Classic Parker members, which was a very useful thread. But any details would be very helpful (like what would you do differently if you installed another pair on a new boat. :D )

I did not take any while installing, I was too focused on not messing up. lol! I can take a few of the finished product, and I will answer any questions the best I can. My biggest fear was drilling into the transom, but it went easy. I was also a little obsessed about figuring out exactly where the actuators would be positioned on the transom, the reason, I wanted to make sure I was able to snake the hydro lines, and the sensor wires properly.

I mounted the tabs, M120's, three inches in from the edge of the hull. The starboard side hydro line went through the transom under the battery compartment, the port side the hydro went through the transom right at the level of the deck into the battery compartment. I measured several times to make sure everything checked out, and all was fine.

Finding the right wire to tap into at the ignition switch was a little tricky, a lot of wires and not much room to work.

The thread was a great one, it really helped me out.

Once you get the Bennett M-120's installed, your problem will go away. You'll have so much more control that it's a wonder why they didn't come as a factory item. Good luck and should you need any pics, please let me know.
