Hello everyone I have been on this site often but just now registered. I see everyone has great information on the parkers. Currently I have a small carolina skiff which I like but am looking to move up got my eye on an 18 foot parker. The boat I am looking at is a 1990 it is currently powered with a 90hp 2-stroke looks like same vintage. Are their any common problems with this year and style of boat I should look for prior to checking it out. Are the fuel tanks in this year aluminum or fiberglass? do the decks/transoms rot any?

Any information that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Fuel tanks are all aluminum which can be verified by popping open one of the deck hatches over the tank.
Any boat that is not cared for properly is susceptible to water intrusion, which is why a survey is recommended for any boat that you are seriously considering buying.

The 1801 hull design has been around for a long time, which is a testament to their build quality and popularity.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info I wasn't sure if they had the aluminum tanks in them in those years as well. This boat is actually in jersey and I am on long island. Seemed like it could be a decent deal. Debating on wether to go check it out or hold out to get something newer and more local.

Look for soft spots in the deck. The earlier boats were not as well treated with resin on the underside of the wood. If you find them they are repairable and worth fixing but you may be able to get a lower price. The hull itself is about bullet proof on these boats.

I have a 1987 1801 for 8 years here in NJ and could not be happier, especially since I repowered with a 1992 90hp Johnson. Originally had a 150 Merc which was only good at using a lot of gas. Entire boat is very solid. Good luck in your search.

Thank you both for the info I never knew decks weren't that is bad to replace I will have to do a little more research on how to do that. I haven't been able to take the ride to check it out yet might try to go next weekend plus he isn't flexible on the price at all he says.....
