Referred to the site from THT - looks great!

2-foot-itis has gotten the best of me, and I'm looking to sell my 2004 19' MayCraft (anyone interested?) and go with a 21'. I've always liked the way Parkers looked in the water, so I think that is my next boat. However, if I decided to pull the trigger, anything above 18 or 19k will probably stretch the budget a bit. I've got my eye on an '88 that has been repowered with an '05 HPDI (20 hours), new curtains and cushions, and new 100 gallon tank. Everything looks clean, but something about buying a 20 year old boat bothers me.

Curious as to any thoughts about the older Sou'Wester compared to the newer models. Any pros vs. cons?

Welcome aboard :D !

Welcome to Classic Parker and the Parker Nation.

As Dave (aka 'Porkchunker') coined ... we are your on-line Parker Owner's Manual.

If I were you ... I'd be all over this '99 model for short $$:

I would have no concerns about a 20 year old Parker hull. Look for soft spots in the deck as these older models were more prone to develop deck rot from water intrusion than newer boats. I think that's a problem Parker has fixed a few years ago. If you find any repairing is relatively simple depending on the extent and can be a good way to negotiate a lower price to cover the repair expense.
