I'm in the process of buying a 2120 SC with a 150 HP Yamaha 4 stroke. I'm moving up (in size) from a 17 ft Grady White CC. (If I were to post the purchase of a Parker on the Grady site this would start a LONG thread). My main reason for the Parker is a bit bigger boat and getting out of the weather and spray a bit.

I'm wondering if there is anything I should look for on this 2005. The boat and motor are still under warranty. I sent an email to Parker to see if there was any warranty work done on this boat (haven't heard back from them). I also talked with the local Yamaha tech (South Carolina) and he indicated that he had recently done some warranty work (replacing a balancer??) on the boat.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I'm really looking forward to becoming a Parker owner and will enjoy joining the other side of the Parker/Grady discussions.

Thanks for the pointers. I've only had the Grady about a year (it's a 1995) and I really liked the ride and handling. I looked at a couple of bigger Grady's but they all rely on canvas for a covering. I want something that I can trailer and also be in out of the weather when I want to be. The parker seemed like a great choice.

I've also noted that there is a lot less discussion on this forum about problems with the Parkers than I see on the Grady site about problems with the Gradys. Could just be a different level of owner, greater expectations from the Grady because of the cost, or less frills equals less problems.

Thanks again

I have the same boat it is awesome get it checked out & go
enjoy her.

What is a "dual station"? I don't believe this one is equiped with that. I've only looked at pictures so I don't know all the features yet. Done quite a bit of looking at Parker's website but they don't carry "old" versions of their lineup. That is one thing I liked about Grady. They had schematics for all their old boats so I would find the wiring layout and other things. I'm hoping he kept the owner's manual. I didn't see where I could get those from Parker either.

Second station:

I love GWs but I bet they are complaining about getting blood on their carpet, or spilling koolaid on the kitchenette countertop!

Ranger: would that be the "standard" splashguard forward of your engine to which you have attached rod holders, or is it some other device?

Thanks!

"Dual station" refers to the interior helm and the cockpit station.
Parker offers two types of cockpit steering stations.

The free standing station...

...and the bulkhead mounted station.

That looks like it would be VERY handy for trolling alone. Is that a factory install only or do they sell after market?

It is. I use mine while trolling, slow running in the creeks and harbors, and for docking.

The dual station option can be had as a factory installed option, as a dealer installed option, or as some here can attest... as an owner installed option.
Check the Projects section and you will find several threads on the subject.

FWIW - The photo that Ranger posted is a factory rear station. The top photo of my two examples is a dealer installed / owner sourced part. The part is nearly identical to Parkers, but prior to my buying it, it previously lived in a 25' C-Hawk.

I have a friend that owns a rather large metal barn and there are times that I use it to work on my own 2120PH. He does work on boats quite often and he had a Grady White 20' Overnighter in there when my boat was there right along side his customers. One morning I went to the boat and he was there and showed me a discovery he had made. He stood between both boats and first banged the Grady with his hand and then my 2120 and the Parker has a lot sturdier glass layup than the Grady, try it if you get the chance, it's amazingly noticeable.

The balancer on your F150 (esp. your vintage) needed to be replaced as part of a factory recall/maintenance issue. Some of the motors started exhibiting a high pitched whine that was an indicator of premature balancer wear. He saved you the trouble of the repair, even though it was probably covered by Yamaha anyway.

Had mine done this past winter.

Hakr,

Yes that is the standard factory splashboard. I am still debating whether to remove it or not...

I removed mine and had wet feet all the time so I decided to take care of the problem permenently. Dig deep in your pockets if you decide to do this.
