New to this board, thought since we are about to purchase a Parker, I'd jump on and see what info I can find out.

Getting ready to purchase a new 21se and have the option to have a factory t-top installed. It will be powered by a Yamaha 150 4s. Was wondering with the extra weight and drag, will the 150 be pushing it to hard, when 3 or 4 adults are on board? I see about 50/50 with or without on here.

We primarily fish insight on land off nj, for fluke, blues and bass, and would like to also have the dealer install a fishfinder. Was thinking the Lowrance Elite 5x.

Any thoughts or suggestions, please let me know. I'm open to anything.

Also, look forward to contributing to this board in the very near future.

i would do t-top...if only for the resale value. i wont even consider a boat without t-top or hard top. The punishing sun alone in NJ in the summer fluking is pretty rough, need a place to escape the sun if you can, the drizzle and rain, also your antennas will be higher and give you a place for a radar.

as for electronics i have a raymarine dsx600 color unit that I absolutely love...with a transom mount ducer. I've had my eye on the side scan units but its just not in the budget right now.

if its in your budget i would look into going to a 200, the 150 is a great motor and a fuel miser, but the 200 will run easier if you run with a lot of weight, and is a proven run-forever design (not like the 150 isnt, but you get the point)

Here's my 21SE , 150 4s ,w/t-top Garmin 4008/radar/icom504 in the electronics box.The top makes it more comfortable in any type of weather.

I vote for the top, really enjoy mine in the Gulf on those hot August days.
Fished for in the bay on a rainy day and was able to cast, as long as the four on board know how to cast. Stayed pretty much dry until we moved to another location.

Depends on your type of fishing. 3 or 4 guys casting - forget about a t-top on a 21. It will get in the way

If you fly fish, the T-Top will get in the way.

Having a previous CC with only the canopy, I currently have the 23SE with the hard t-top. I never fulled with the canopy to much of a Pain in the ... We fish the same waters and there can be some scorching hot days on the DE bay. Having the t-top makes them more bearable. It is nice to have a locked area to get the electronics out of the way. Rocket launchers also serve purpose as I like nothing but scales and blood on the deck. The t-top was a must when I purchased my current boat. Like a soar peter, just can't beat it.
