Just paid $350.00 for 100hr service on 23SE. While I am not mechanically inclined, I have spent my life on the water and on boats. My own fault for not gaining that knowledge. I hate to think I am paying that much for oil change, fuel separator, and to reset the guages. Anyone know what I should expect to see on the slip as for work being done before I pick-up tomorrow? It is a bad feeling to always go in feeling like you are going to get taken. "Always expect the worst and you will never be dissappointed."

Thanks for everything.

Boats Inc. in Niantic, CT (parker dealer) charges about the same...maybe a tad bit less...

Yes, it is annoying, but when you don't have a trailer and the boat is kept there in the slip you are somewhat at their mercy....

I am mechanically inept and on my previous boat (F 115 yam) I did it all myself, it is really simple and does not take long.

How I learned was I reached out to a mechanic and offered to give him a hundred bucks for him to walk me through everything...i took pictures, took notes, and it saved me lots of money in the long run

Down here in SE Florida i would get charged $500 for a 100 hour change. They change the plugs, upper and lower oil, impeller and housing plus all gaskets and whatever other miscellaneous stuff and grease all the fittings. When i did this myself a few months back it cost almost $120 for the oil, filters, plugs, etc. So if you figure 3 hours at $85 bucks you are getting close. You have to realize too the liability of a dealer doing service on your boat. If he doesnt change out everything and you go out and 3 weeks later your boat overheats chances are you will end up at the dealer crying that the engine broke when you just paid for service. How i wish the general public had to deal with themselves for just one day. By the way im not a boat mechanic or antyhing but do have to deal with customers and unrealistic expectations for the money they pay.
