I changed my pry out deck plates with screw out versions a few years ago. I wanted to make a home made "tool" to give me some leverage when unscrewing them but my boat is currently 80+- miles away.
If anyone can give me a rough measurement as to the distance from the center of each finger hole, I'd be grateful. Here they are.
Thanks
Tim

Hey Tim:

don't have your style of plate so i can't help you with the numbers.

FYI just wanted to ask you if you have you seen the deck plates Parker is putting on the new boats? pretty cool.....i ordered a couple for the 2320. the lid is very rigid and matches the gelcoat color. the lid has an o-ring on the flange that inserts into the receiver, and the edges of the lid turn downward flush with the deck completely covering the seam so that no water can enter the seam drip passed the o-ring when it begins to fail.

Hey Jim,

I have seen them, but do not really know where I could get any or if the screw holes would line up with the old one's. I got rid of the pry out style as I found even replacing the o-ring annually, water still got down onto the tank. The screw out style have been good for me, but you have to make it so tight, they are a royal PITA to get back off again without a hammer and a small block of wood. I've tried every type of lubricant, but still a PITA to get off.

I have an idea for a device that would give me much more leverage, but I can't make it until I can get this measurement. I'm thinking maybe 4" +- across from one finger hole to the other....

My deck hatches are the pop out type rather than screw out, so take this for what it's worth...
I lube the o-rings of my deck hatches with Starbrite Teflon Snap and Zipper Lube.

Works for me.

Thanks Megabyte. Tim, i'll let you know if the holes line up or if i fill them and redrill.

Anyone know if Parker designed in any limber holes in case water finds it way in passed the foam?

I believe there is a channel that runs down the keel to ship any trapped water aft, but to find out for sure, give the factory a call at 252-728-5621.

I put the same deck plates in my Parker and made a simple tool using a piece of oak 3/4 inch thick by 2" wide by 9" long. I drilled one hole 1.5" from one end and another hole 4 1/4" further up from the same end. That makes the holes 3" apart on center. I used two old rudder zinc bolts and placed them in the holes because they have round heads. On the other side of the bolt I just used a stainless nut. The round heads fit right into the deck plate and they are a snap to take off now. They also sell adjustable deck plate wrenches, but, if you make this one nice and finish it well, its kind of cool to have around.
