I am going to be adding a non skid surface to the cabin floor.

I intend to leave about 1" border around all edges, including the seating base.

My question is, are there any tricks, tips, to creating a perfect circle around the base, without removing the base, using tape?

I've tried folding the tape over to try an make a circle out of a straight edge but can't quite get it to lay right.

I put a single-edge razorblade up against a tiny, smooth hardwood block (say 1" long by your desired X" width) and use it to trace around features. Get the concept? Block sits aside the seat base, blade is on other side ... trace the base without cutting a finger ... and presto, you just cut a corresponding circle in the tape.

Some sharpies just do this for corners and curves and use straight edges and an Exacto blade for the rest, tracing an outline first in pencil.
