I called today about buying a set of controls for a 2nd helm they told me I have to buy new electronic controls I could not use cable controls with twin fourstokes yamaha. Any thoughts on this.

It doesn't have to be but it is the easiest.
The problem comes from....Where would you put the 2nd set of controls at each station....No room.
The only way Not to go electronic is with 2- twin morse controls at each station. 1 pair for throttles and 1 pair for shifting.
Then you need switches for tilt/trim
