I'm considering upgrading to one of the two.

(Currently I rely on the FF on my Garmin 545)

I understand the biggest difference in the 2 is probably the RMS.

Is the $600 price difference just because the 620 is newer or is there a noticeable difference between the two?

I been researching the fcv620 a lot for the last couple years and will buy it over the winter for a upgrade to my old lowrance which was a great unit. The fcv585 is pretty much the same unit bumped up to 1k. sorry for no hands on but have not seen a negative thing reported on it.

I have the FCV 600L
What would you like to know about it?
I pick your brain a little, which transducer are you using and at cruising speed does it show bait, or do you have to slow down? Thanks

I'm using the Airmar "tilted element" through-hull transducer.

It sees bottom, bait, and fish at any speed.

Mega,
Overall how do you like the unit?
Is it difficult to use?
How is the screen in the sunlight?
What is its biggest flaw?
Have you considered upgrading?
What type of fishing do you do?
Have you use it in water >250' deep?
Did you ever try it with a transom mount before going shoot through?

Thanks Bro

Overall how do you like the unit?
Overall, I like it just fine. It does everything I need.
It is the only piece of electronics that I kept that came with the boat.

Is it difficult to use?
Not at all. You can leave it in automatic, or put it in manual and tweek to your hearts content.
Truth is, I leave mine in automatic most of the time.

How is the screen in the sunlight?
Never an issue in the p-house.

What is its biggest flaw?
Can't say that it has one.
It doesn't have all be bells and whistles of the newer units, but it does everything I want it to do.

Have you considered upgrading?
Once... to the new Furuno digital unit, but why upgrade when this one works so well?

What type of fishing do you do?
Trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, and this time of year, topwater.

Have you use it in water >250' deep?
Nope. The maximum I've used it here in the Bay is 120'

Did you ever try it with a transom mount before going shoot through?
Yep. When I bought the boat it was wearing a P66 transom mount 'ducer.
The transom mount didn't have the solid lock that the "tilted element" through-hull has.

Understand, the 600L has been discontinued for some time, so some people would call it old technology.
Thing is, many of the Bay charter captains rely on the 600L every day for their livelihood.
That alone, speaks volumes to me.

Oh,didnt see you were talking about 600 and not the 620.
