I for one have never seen any boat rigged where the batteries weren't adjacent to each other ... less maybe a house battery in the cabin or somewhat forward, like to feed a windlass.

Yes your right about that, i should have read my question before i posted. What i'd like to know is are the batteries on the one side or the other or in the middle where i think it makes more sense.

I have a 94 2320 and have 2 batteries together in the back port side.
I use a battery carrier strap to remove and replace them

Mine is older than dirt and looks like a cross section of a tire was used to make the handle
It is good location IMHO and not to hard to add water
Since I am on my knees when checking them and I say the fisherman's prayer
Lord, let me catch some fish

Parker has changed locations periodically in the life of their SC models, from starboard rear quarter to down in the bilge. I think it would be tough to pinpoint the exact location even within a given model and model year. Without seeing the boat ;) that is :) .

Since the topic has been brought up.

I have 2003 2320 parker with a notched transom and 2 stroke engine. The batteries are on the port side (group 24). I would like to upgrade to two group 27 dual purpose batteries but there does not seem to be enough room.

Any suggestions?

I'm not very handy but I do try (though the Admiral would like to keep the yelling down a bit).

LOL

My condolences on your Colts (assuming since you are from Indiana you are a Colts fan).

As a Patriots fan I feel your pain (having a great season only to stumble in the Super Bowl),

Thanks, the Saints played overall better O and D and won
It was a great game for them, organization and city.
Anyone can bet anyone on any given day, too
Colts will improve and make adjustments. They had several games with come from behind wins and that can backfire when it does not happen and
I dont get to wrapped up about it either excepts the Colts and the club have done so much for the Indy and the new stadium renewed a 10 block area around it.

The Pats fans should stand tall. What a decade!

Rla!

The Batteries on my 2320 are in the bilge. Accessing through the aft storage lockers. Pull out the holding containers and voila! I often pull them and bring them home and keep them charged when I am not in the water for extended periods....

I have one suggestion...

Measure the space that you have carefully, then consult the size chart for a set of Lifeline batteries.

Lifelines aren't cheap, but they pack more power into a given space than you will find with any other battery on the market today.
They are truly maintenance free AGM's too. No water to add, and you don't have to remove them in winter (or ever).

I have a set of Optima blue-tops in my boat now that have been in there since 2003 and have given me years of trouble free service.

This spring I'll be replacing them with a set of group 27 or group 31 Lifelines and my Optimas will be relegated to powering my battery backup sump pump.

Thanks. Will do.

My problem is if I'm sitting for short while, it runs havoc with starting the engine and my Raymarine c80 (I'm talking about only an hour). Next year i want to start some overnight fishign trips.

If it doesn't work out maybe this gives me an excuse to buy a 2520. :)

Mega, not to hi-jack but after many years of good luck with Optima why are you going to switch brands? If you feel this not on topic for this thread please let me know in another. I am hoping the cold weather has drained the batteries I have because they are fairly new. Hopefully they will charge up, if not.......

Good question.

Back when I bought my Optimas, they were the best AGM's on the market.
There is noting wrong with the Optima, I just replaced a 10 year old red-top with another Optima red-top in my Jeep when it finally failed...

Since putting the blue-tops in my boat back in 2003, I discovered the Lifeline brand, and they pack more power into the case than does the Optima.
Battery technology just keeps getting better, and I'm just following the advancement.

Of course, cutting edge technology costs money, and the Lifelines are not cheap.
I just happen to think that the best is worth the money.
