I have a 115 yamaha and currently have 2 group24 deep cycle batteries.
perko 12 both switch.
Would I be better having 1 starting battery instead.
I believe both batteries are new.
At night i'll have running lights, garmin and the bait well going.
Thanks for the help.

I always install a "Starting" battery to start the motor with it is dedicated to that and does the best job. A 1-2 Perko switch is a funny thing. What ever position you have it in 1 or 2. That becomes the Start and house battery....IE: Powers Everything.

I don't use them for multiple reasons and that is one reason.

BEP Cluster switch makes 10 times more sense and it's all automatic.

I like that BEP cluster Wart mentioned, but if there's no problems with your current setup, there's no problems running as is. Save the BEP for when you need to do the upgrade, but be sure to marinize it on the back connections, as they're not even sealed ...
