HI all, I need new battery's, we are kind of stuck, I need to get two new battery's when we get home, we are starting the port motor by jumping the motor at the starter with a jump pack, the machnic has checked everything, we are out at Catalina, about 35 miles from our trailer, we thought we were going to come home on one motor, so can anybody tell me the best battery's I can get, we have a 2520 with twin Yamaha 150's, will report on the permatrims when I have more time, but they work great once I figured how to use them with the trim tabs, still learning !

In a wet cell, Interstate or Rolls are argueably the best there is, but I use Exides, as do all my friends and bothers, and none of have ever been left high and dry by a battery.

Most of use use their dual purpose batteries ...

Hi Dale, do you have a link and or, the info I would need to find that battery, I need two ! Just got home, will post my thoughts on the permatrims later today !

For absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries, look for Lifeline or Optima.

There is an Optima Battery Place around the corner from here, and they have an 18 month replacement, the way I added a third battery messed it all up and a bait pump, was warned when i did it, so now I know :( Like most stuff, learned the hard way :) Thanks

Glad you got home, Good luck with fixing it up.

When you get it all sorted out, please post what "messed up"
So we can learn from your mistake. :)

Not sure, the Optima has a DM31, it is a group 31 battery, it will fit no problem, it is a dual purpose battery, is it over kill, or is there such a thing, I need two, just have no idea what battery to get, what group to get and looking for info !

I replaced both of the OEM group 27 batteries with group 31 a couple of years back. I had to remove the old battery trays and install new ones to hold the larger batteries. The 27s couldn't keep up with the electronics at night while on the hook hunting croaker.

The group 31s work great. If you do a lot of night fishing on the hook, then go to larger batteries. If you don't, then you can probably stay with the group 27s.

Update on my battery problem, well the problem is the ground on the motor, the cable was arcing, the cable was tight and not noticeable to the naked eye, but was arcing between the motor and the cable, and there was not real contact , the mechanic is a nice guy and very honest, as with the way work is here on the west coast, he could of told me it took a day or so and billed me alot, but I got lucky, so that is what happened !

Glad to hear it worked out!

Did he reccomend spraying the ground cable or anything? Was it loose or cooroded?

Hi, was not loose or corroded, will ask him when I stop by later today or tomorrow
