So, heading home with the Mrs. after a good day on the water and I see something bobbing on top of the water. Can't make out what it is but it's not "floating" the way a piece of debris would. This thing, whatever it is, is trying to swim !

From a distance, it looks like a raccoon or cat or maybe even a very small dog. Anyway, this channel, otherwise known as the washing machine, has a lot of boat traffic and a good human swimmer is going to be taxed.

So, as I approach this thing, you won't believe what I scoop up in my net......

4ft long and tired. Of course, neither my wife nor I know anything about these creatures and aren't sure whether they bite or not. Our dog daisy is on board and she is going nuts. The Mrs. , who was enjoying a seat in the ballroom, makes a beeline for the safety of the berth as "Lucky" starts milling around. Yes, she named it.

As most women do, she figures that food will pacify this prehistoric relic. Hey, works on me... So, she feeds him some grapes which he devours.

Finally at the home dock and we have to figure out how to get it off the boat. Remember, we don't know if this thing bites. He's been hissing at the dog so when lock her up in the berth. I approach Lucky slowly. Very slowly. And, thinking I am faster that he is (maybe when I was 20), I reach out for him. No movements. I gently wrap my hands around his mid section, hoping to avoid getting raked with those long claws. Nothing. He just sits there. Obviously, some body's pet.

My neighbor is outside, hoping that I'm picking up an extra fish to give him for dinner. He's like "What's for dinner"? I show him. Apparently not what he had in mind.

Anyway, Lucky is sunning in the porch for now. We'll be searching the lost ads and have a call into the local Iguana Rescue organization.

Can you believe this ? What weird thing to find on the water.....

Cool, we had one in college, not quite as big.

As long as she was warm and fed she was happy, could go off and scratch the **** out of you though.

Yea they will scratch this is a picture of my hand after I tried to pick one up in Aruba, had a few cocktails before i built up the courage
