Well I went against most peoples advice and painted the bottom of my 2320 with out floating it. I bought the boat with out a trailer and I am about 3 miles from the closest ramp, so i was looking at about a 300$ bill to have it hauled to the water and then hauled back. I felt confident through the pictures that i had from the day i went to VA to sea trial the boat that i could get the water line pretty close. So with the help of a few people including my cousin Bryan (bryan2530) we ran a line down the side of the boat using a string and made numerous adjustments until it looked about right. My father in-law had a laser level so we put that to use as well to get a nice straight line. After 3 days of laying on my back and sanding the bare gel coat and then washing and wiping down the hull with acetone this is what we came up with. This is one job that never gets any easier or more enjoyable, i think the boat looks a lot better with bottom paint on it

Whats going on down there with the dredging for you westbrook guys? I was down that way earlier and was reading about it.... Three million in state funds!?

It hasn't been dredged in a while, so the channel got out of control then the contractor who was the lowest bidder got the contract and well, you get what you pay for.

After that I stopped folowing it because the channel is fine for powerboats dredging is basically needed for the multimillion dollar blowboats Brewers Pilots Point works on with 12 foot keels.

Nice work guys!
Prep and paint is a lot of work!

Thanks Kevin, sure is a lot of work Im only 27 but laying on my back for 2 days grinding the bottom sure made it hard to get out of bed the following mornings. Funny thing is I thought when I found the boat it was great that the bottom was fresh and hadn't been painted, my tone changed a little over this past weekend, and this isn't the first boat of mine that I have done. Sure glad that part is over!!!

Looks great :) !

Consider a 2" red or other color 'boot stripe' above the bottom paint, with a 1" gap to show the hull. Looks sharp!
