I need to replace both of the brass drain tubes in the motor splash well. I got them out OK, but what can I use to replace them. I do not have a tool for putting in the same type.

You can make your own DIY tool, as I have done. But epoxy coat the hole well first, so you may need your hole a tad oversize.

See here for the post on the tool: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4064

Otherwise you can drill a hole over-sized and epoxy in PVC tubing as new scupper drains as both Warthog and I have done. I put in 2" diameter (ID) outlet tubes.

At the yard I work for we sometimes replace them with fiberglass tube, available from McMaster-Carr. it's a little more durable than pvc.

So either way with the PVC or fiberglass tube glued in which I assume is with epoxy, the outside of the transom has some sort of scupper but how is the inside of the transom finished?

I use the Gray [Electric] PVC....It has UV inhibitors in it. I cut the PVC short by a little nd finish each side with a nice fillet of epoxy on the end of the tube.

I replaced the brass drain tubes on my 25 blue fin and still have the crimping tool.I can mail it to ya if you want to borrow it, I believe its a 1 1/4".

I too have just removed my brass scupper tubes from my 96 Parker 1800.
The outside rims on both were cracked but no cracks found on the inside of the tube.
I want to replace these but with what material?

I see that some of you are using PVC.
Won't PVC crack?
The brass tubes did (rim) after basically 19 years.
Need some suggestions on what material to use.
What about stainless?

Thanks,
