I posted " need help warning buzzer and oil bar flashes" Service tech came out and said oil sending unit appears bad, laptop showed weird high pressure readings. He came back on the second house-call and replaced the sending unit and took it for a test ride, oil pressure readings good, but now the motor is overheating and no pee stream, what!!!! Towed the boat to their shop to get pulled. removed lower unit and a 2 year old water pump was shredded from being run dry, I was told must have picked up a bag or seaweed, I don't quite understand why I was getting an oil pressure alarm if the water pump had gone up, confused. Had them look at the dry exhaust and yes it needs to be replaced (2004 225 4 stroke) , not rusted all the way thru yet but in real bad shape, and Oh ya at 950 hrs may as well get the timing belt replaced, and I guess I shouldn't tell the wife that, that box that showed up at the house yesterday was the heading sensor I ordered to overlay my radar. GEEZZZZ thank God we keep separate checking accounts. Good thing I guess is that the shop told me the cost of the exhaust replacement parts from Yamaha has come way down. Parts $750.00, include labor and the total is about $2,000.00. He said he has put the replacements on some commercial crabbin boats and they have put 3000 plus hours on them with no more corrosion problems, so the replacement parts are very reliable., After this I hope I get a few more thousand out of mine.

Did you join the class action lawsuit about this? ... it could pay YOU for their egregious actions ...

Well the boats ready for pickup, Had the new exhaust installed, new oil pressure sending unit, new water pump and lower unit serviced, new timing belt, and fixed my trim switch as the trim indicator never worked, $3,100.00. I think my mechanic was fair.

A tough nut, but still better than a repower (I keep telling myself). :)

Your right. 20k would be a lot harder to swallow at 900 hrs. The glass is half full!!!! Just happy I can get back to fishing this weekend
