hey there I just had the steering cable andhelm assembly replaced on my 2002 21SE......surprise the steering isn't any easier, it is a two handed job to turn left or right after fully turning left or right, and worse when on plane. My mechanc tells me it is because the cable has to make so many tunr from motor to helm and it is normal......thoughts? ty

Cable steering effort is really dependent on the mechanical action and the # of turns it takes to fully cycle.

Maybe your old one was 4 to 5 full turns "lock to lock" (all the way one way to the other) and this newer one is perhaps a 3-turn system. That would significantly increase the effort it takes to turn the wheel.
