This is getting old :x ... but I have another question. I forgot that the person I purchased my boat from had left me with 3/4 of a tank. The gauge is not working properly so I thought the tank was empty. The previous owner added in a stabalizer and I added in some when I thought I was filling up the boat. Can you add to much Startron/fuel stabalizer to a gas tank. Its 64 gallons and all the filters are new. Thanks

JD ... sure, you probably could ... remember, the motor runs on fuel, not additives ;) .

If in doubt, just add some gallons of fuel to top off ... and just go take her for a run :D !

While teoretically possible, not realistically.

Even if you threw an entire bottle in, it wouldn't hurt. I spent a lot of time on the phone with the techs there last summer. Another trick is to buy the Startron for Diesel and just use it half strength in you gas tank. It is exactly the same stuff as the gas formulation, just twice the concentration.

Don't forget your Ringfree!

Really? Any evidence of this?? That is a great tip if it is true.... 8)

I agree with Dave.

Remember that the maintenance dose is 1 ounce per 10 gallons of fuel.
The shock or decarbon dose is 1 ounce per gallon.

Even if your concentration were 2 to 3 ounces per each 10 gallons, you would still be fine.

We are just about completely switched to ethanol blended fuels now here in the Tampa/St Pete area. Jeez, now it seems like I'll have a "little gas" with my ethanol, Startron, Ringfree concoction. :x

Below is an email I got from Peter Dornau at Startbrite a couple of years ago...

David,

Yes you can use. His explanation is wrong. They are exactly the same
product accept the diesel is twice the concentration. So use the diesel at 1/2 the dosage and you have StarTron Gas. DO not worry about over dosing as you can not. Double is fine.

Peter

So...that's how how I found out.

Wow! Now get this, West Marine sells 16-ounces of Star*Tron additive for $20 for either the gas or diesel formulation. So if you buy the diesel versus the gas formula, you get twice as much for your buck!

Now that's 'Marketing 101' as practiced in the USA today! Are they stiffing gas formula users or are the diesel users getting the break :?: ... ?

Now with my wholesale account, I can get 16-ounces of diesel formula for $11, which is $1 more than the 8-ounce version of gas fomula. So for that $1 more than the 8-ounce retail ... I'll get 64-ounces of coverage. Sweet :D !

Exactly, plus how many times have you seen the shelf with "gas" Startron sold out and plenty of diesel available? I have several times.

Now, this is "our" little secret, right boys and girls?

Thnngs you learn.

Like anything else, I grabbed without looking once last year and bought diesel bottle. I added some to boat and then end of year had extra opened bottles and noticed it. I used the gas dosage rate.

I have a diesel truck and used it in the winter, now like Dale says it is your choice on the bottle to pick!
