I’m re-caulking the square gap around the bait tank on the deck of my 2310. I was able to dig out most of the old caulk, but struggling to get down to bare fiberglass. Any hints how to get the last bits out of such a narrow, 1/8th to ¼ inch gap? And after it is out, what would be the best product to refill the gap? I’d like to use something that is good and water tight since this is over the gas tank, but also can be removed without too much trouble since this will probably have to happen every few years. Also, is the square cut out original from the factory or did a prior owner cut the deck? The caulk I dug out looked original 1998. Thanks, Mike

I would say it came like that from the factory. 4000 marine sealant. Easy to remove and won't discolor after the sun hits it. No need to get all the way down just as long as the surface is clean when laying the bead. Wipe down with acetone.

Thanks. For this project, would there be much of a difference between the 3M 4000 and Life Caulk?
