WX didn't cooperate, so we had to break our annual trip to the CBBT into 2 segments. 1st segment, my oldest son (Erich) was back from college and was able to go (his first time). 2nd segment, he had other activities, so a couple of friends came aboard.

Over the course of the 5 days of fishing, we probably boated over 250 fish. Most were nice footballs in the 22-27" range. On the last day (Friday 21 Dec) we had rough weather, tall waves, but on average bigger fish. Released a lot of slot-fish that last day. No one got sick, but it was a challenge.

Home port was Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base. Destination was 1st & 2nd Islands and the small boat channel during the first segment, and the 3rd and 4th Islands and the High Rise on the 2nd segment.

Most fish were caught on fly rods with a 3" chartreuse over white clouser fished shallow, or on the same clouser rigged as a teaser above a jig head and BKD on a LTJ rod. Fish didn't seem to want the BKDs (10" or 6"), but hammered the flies. Last day they hammered the fly, but also started taking a 6" BA paddle-tail Shad Assassain on a 2 oz bullet-head jig fished on the bottom.

Here are some pics.

Here are some pics of the big water on the last day. That 2510 sure handed the water well. The bodies and the nerves gave out long before the boat was even close to being stressed. Glad to have those curtains up. And my feeshin' buddies kept reminding me that downsizing to a 23 CC would be a bad idea, since I'm eventually moving to Williamsburg, VA and fishing that part of the Bay for a long time. We certainly saw a bunch of drenched fishermen in CCs on that last day.

Wow Dave! Looks like a great trip. I love the picture of the seas! The water can get fun down there quick. I too was thinking about a CC earlier this year. Fall fishing quickly reminded me that I have the best boat for me.

Have you ever tried eeling with fly rod?

No, but you are placing evil thoughts into my head. You should have seen the stink when I asked the question on the TF Flyfishing Forum about trolling a fly rod during the spring trophy seasaon. They way those Blue-Bloods were carrying on, you would have thought I brought ham and cheese finger-foods to a Jewish wedding.
