I've been working and traveling and had two surgeries this winter. The boat was parked at the boat yard. They winterized it last year. I had no time to do it myself in the Fall.

I spent yesterday readying for its first launch this year.

1) Battery was stored in my apartment this winter. It was dead, had a dead short. Replaced.
2) Circuit breaker to the dash panel was tripped and would not reset. Replaced.
3) Ground wire to the GPS plug would not carry current. Replaced.
4) Tach was not working last year, bought a new one this winter. Replaced.
5) Right tail light on trailer, signal not working, replaced entire light with LED light. (Already had replaced the left tail light with an LED light last year.)

Didn't launch today. Coast was socked in with fog this morning and I don't have radar. Had plans this afternoon. It will happen. Glad the electrical problems were solved. I thank my brother for his help.

I thought I had pushed the EASY button by having professional winterizing. I had no problems in the previous 9 years of ownership doing the winterizing myself.

Now there has been a pile of issues. There are two more: First, the sending unit to the gas gauge. Thanks to you guys for telling how to test for it in other threads. Need a new sending unit.

The transom drain plug was always in the fitting tightly, it is a pipe threaded plug. I was always nervous about taking out the plug for fear of spinning the fitting and causing leaks around the fitting. They took it out and it was dripping Sunday morning after a shower. It needs to be removed and then sealed with 5200 and reinstalled or totally replaced.

The top carb is full of brown stuff (last year's ethanol gas and water?). It will have to be removed and, at least, cleaned; or rebuild. Have to wait for parts for that carb. Shouldn't it have drawn stabilized gas into the system if they put it in the tank? Unless they only ran it a few seconds.

Uhhhh......no.

Most yards have kids who know less than you do about your boat and could care even less. I have found it is cheaper to do it yourself and by default you will do a better job.

At the very least if you screw it up or need a professional, you will have done the research to know how it needs to be done and check up on it when it comes back from the shop.

If by chance you do find a good yard, support them with your business because this day and age they are few and far between.
