Hey guys, no joy getting a used tower for sale so I am going to bite the bullet and have on built for my 2120. My intent is to get a half tower, folding with controls ot make this boat a cobia slayer. Big question - stainless steel or aluminum? I know some guys rave about SS, I am just wondering what if any weight considerations apply on a 2120. Thanks and great board guys!

Not me. The pipe would be a lot smaller. If it was the same size as the alum normally used it would be to heavy.

Used stuff like you were looking for is usually not a great deal. Why?

Because this stuff is all custom built. Being that it is custom, fitting it from one boat to another [not the same model] requires some modification. This usually offsets the good deal you got on buying it in the first place. The other thing is it's usually dated and the lines don't match what you are putting it on.

Here are some pix's of the one on my Mako. We put 3 people in it.

Laid Down.

FWIW stainless steel towers don't hold up well; the parent material and welds are too damn rigid or tough, so they tend to break themselves apart. There's a sound reason why most towers are made out of aluminum - it will flex and give ... and not break!
