The speed on my Command Link gauge is stuck at 17 mph. It was working until a week ago. Seems the fuel flow etc is still working but speed stuck. Any suggestions? Can you just buy the speed /fuel gauge?
Is it getting its info from a pitot tube ?
If so, you can unplug the clear tube from behind the gauge and see if it zeros out.
If so, the tube is clogged somewhere. If it stays at 17, the gauge is probably bad.
Mine went bad once, not cheap (but what Yam parts are).
Command link does not use a pitot tube but rather a water pressure and speed sender located under the cowling. Timc2520, Your thinking of the old style round digitals that were available before command link. Which did utilize the tube method.
The newer motors (which I assume you have) have a pitot hole which supplies the sender pressure which in turn displays on your gauge through the main bus. On the leading edge of the lower unit just above the nose cone area there is a small stainless steel tube that is slightly recessed into the housing that usually gets clogged and is the culprit for erratic speed readings. Find this tube and run a small piece of wire or heavy monofiliment fishing line in and out of the hole to try and clear any debris that may be in there. There is a small chance the sender is faulty but I doubt it
