Has any one else had problems with their factory installed T-Top cracking?

I have a 2009 2501 DVCC and my top is cracking in three places. Just wondering if this is a common problem with these tops and what any of you have done to fix the problem and reinforce the top to prevent future cracks.

In my last Parker I got cracks in my stainless top in similar places. In my first Parker I had a couple cracks in the AL top. In both cases I carried it to a welder friend who fixed them. You need to get the welded back before you have a separation. The vertical broken weld in the last picture in surprising though. Is it next to the electronics box? If so check the other side. The problem with cracks and breaks is once that stress point is relieved another area becomes vulnerable. That is why you need to get those cracks that go 3/4 way around the pipe welded back together. Should only cost about an hour of labor. My guy would charge me $50.

The cracked pipe is up by the electronics box. The vertical crack is where the top mounts to the console on the starboard side. On the port side in the same place it is starting to put spider cracks in the gel coat on the console. The boat is out of commission until I get it fixed. I was quoted $1,200.00-$1,500.00 to get it fixed, reinforce the top, and add the life jacket bag. But all of the aluminum shops in my area are booked for weeks already.

I would ask around and find a local independent guy who welds and cut a deal to fix these. If doing the extra work is really important now then you will pay for it. If you wait until they are not as busy the price should be better.

I agree. I am trying to get a few more quotes. The shop that quoted me first could not touch it until September anyway. Another shop could not even look at it to quote it for a week or two. Appears that they are all backed up for a while.
