Guy wants to trade me the stuff below for some tires I just took off my motorcycle. I don't know how to weld or use torches but wouldn't ming learning. What is this stuff used for?

Is this stuff worth the $85 I'm asking for the tires>

Any pointers?

MODS: Sorry, didn't know where to put this. Maybe we should have a topic " Stuff that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else".

Yes it is worth $85, but if you don't know anything about oxy acetylene torches it is really useless. You will have to buy 2 gases for this setup and at best you will be able to cut metal (roughly), heat stubborn stuck bolts, and maybe do some braising after someone teaches you....I have done some welding and even took a couple classes in the evening at my local CC, I carry all my aluminum and SS to a guy that can TIG weld and is really good. You should be able to sell the stuff on Craigslist for a little more than $85 if you find someone that needs a setup.

If the torches are name brand (Victor, Reznor, etc), and everything is in good shape, that's a heck of a deal. You could flip them on CL and make your money back pretty easily. I just bought a new Victor setup (25' of dual hose, new regulators (the brass things with gauges), and a torch with a cutting tip and a welding tip for $120 from my LWS.

Then again, I've got a pair of huge O2 bottles, and a big Acetylene bottle.

Its fun watching your neighbors react when you are cutting 1.25" steamer chain in the driveway with an Oxy-Acetylene torch.
