I had Beth Synowiec (Tidalfish Calssic Rockfish) on board yesterday. The only time I could see that I had a wind window was from about midnight until the morning. I was out picking up crabs during the day sitting at a stop light looking at a flag on a flag pole that was moving the flag pole around. We left from Wallace's in Hampton VA about 10:30 last night. I stopped 2 times after we got in the bay looking for a way out asking if we should turn back, we kept going and beat our way across. Went to buoy 10 area and that side was better than the bay side. Got anchored up to no current. No bites until we started to turn and I had a small bump and it went towards the front slowly until It figured it was hooked and then it acted like a drum. Another 45 incher. Shortly after good current flow next bite, real drum bite, Beth gets that one and the fight begins. I started clearing lines then have anothe run, I set the hook, fish runs and I put it back in the rod holder and let the drag do it's work. I check how much lines is left a couple times on my fish and then get Beth's fsh in, 47 incher. I go to get mine and I can't budge it, current max going out. 30 or so minutes later I get a 41 inch red that was foul hooked in the boat. Headed back in around 4:45 after no bites for an hour or so and current falling off.
