Took a field trip this weekend from LI to VA to see some old fishing friends. Desided to bring the Parker, knowing the wind would be a factor. Plan was to fish the CBBT area for black and red drum, drink a couple of brews, and tell fish tales. Well it didn't disappiont. Many beers, tales, and fish later I land my biggest black drum to date along with many other and of coarse the parker ran flawlessly. The only disappiontment was there was a black drum tournament and the winner was a 76#er. My fish according to the fish weight lenght calculator should be in the high 80#s. The pic is of me and a 52" black drum.

Excellent!

The black drum bite has been way off this year. Fish like yours have been hard to find so far.

I'm going out tomorrow when the wind and rain go away.

Richard

Richard we put in alot of time this weekend to find them. All the usual spots did not produce. We found both the reds and blacks off fishermans island in 45' of water on the flood.

Was that Sunday night? If so I think I was right next to you in a Grady. We also had a good night catching 5 of them and one that was 55 inches.

Yeah exactly it was sunday night. The bite really turned on from the day prior. Did you end up getting the wieght of the 55"er? I guess you were not in the tournament either. Where you in the grady right around 13? I miss the fishing in the VA area from when I lived in VA beach alot of variety.

No, we didn't have a scale big enough for any of the fish. The tournament was over by Sunday so we were not in it either. A friend fished it and said only 10 fish we weighed in so the bite really did turn on. Yes, that was us right next to 13, think you were just to the south of us. I love fishing down there, we trailer the boat from Ocean City, MD. I'll be back this Sunday-Tuesday for more Drum if the weather cooperates.

yeah saw you guys looked like a 24 with a 250 ox66 and a kicker. Did you guys stick it out there at 13 for the flood or move to catch those fish. We had nothing but cow nose rays at 13 and moved out to the east side of FI in deeper water to find the fish. I was supposed to trailer the boat back home yesterday, but desided to give up striper fishing in long island for the next 2 weeks just to go back down during memorial day weekend and do it again. Full moon + early evening flood= exellent drum fishing. Can't wait.
