When removing oil drain bolt, the bolt appeared to have threads come off with the bolt. The bolt will not re-tighten. The threads on the motor appear like they are now damaged. Any idea on the fix? Thanks.

Oooh, now the threads are aluminum, so in theory you could chase the threads and flush/fill the gearcase a few times to remove the chips created. But this is just a guess .... never have had to do it ...

I never did this on an outboard but for automotive applications i use a heli coil kit works fine on aluminum heads.

This is why it is important to use a torque wrench. Suzuki's would round the allen head out of the plug when removing them, if the plug was tightened to tight.

This was the old style plug. The torque spec. from the factory manual [DF-140] is 14ftlbs. or 168inlbs.

I use a 3/8in drive inlb torque wrench on them.
