I have a new '07 1801. With the factory bait tank running the automatic bilge pump activates about once an hour to pump out. Is the normal and with the bilge plug in tight how does so much water get in there?? Seems lke I might have a leak in one of the circulation hoses. Not sure what is and is not normal.

Not normal. Both of the new Parker hulls i have owned (23s) have had loose hose clamps on the livewell plumbing. The first one leaked seawater on top of the gas tank. The second boat I checked with a FW flushing device placed over the raw water intake (bronze scoop on the bottom of the hull).

Next time you take her out on the water, take a small mirror with you, remove the deck plate covers, and look under the deck at the hoses and clamps to inspect for the cause of the leak. There might be more than one leak......so check everything.

.I HAVE A CAPEDHORN THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME WHEN IT WAS NEW. I HAD THE CLAMBS TIGHEN .NO MORE WATER.

Be sure to double clamp all thru hulls. I don't understand why a builder such as Parker doesn't do this but, they don't. It is cheap safety to double clamps. Also, when adding the second clamp, located the thightening screw 180 degrees fro the other clamp.

I pulled off the inspection covers and tightened up every clamp, some fittings had two. I was very surprised to find that every clamp was not very tight and several I put at least 2-3 turns on it before they really snugged down. I'd be very surprised if I still have a problem. Other owners might want to check their system too.

on those hose clamps you may want to bend the excess band back over the worm gear housing. The clamp will never loosen.

I never have water down there unless I flush out the pilot house with fresh then water will get in. You should never have water in there unless you have a leak, Check the connections on all your hose lines.
