Hello all, I am posting a question I asked on another forum to see if you guys have any ideas. I can give more information if needed. Thanks in advance for any help.

So, I know Jailer has the same engine as I do, but would like to see if anyone else has it. Mine is a 2007 F250TXR and the last three trips out for tuna I have been getting blowback, or so the mechanics think. Bottom line is I have oil in the bottom of the cowling and some will drip out on my offshore bracket once the engine is trimmed up for travel, I would guess a ounce or two, not much and I have had it checked out by two mechanics. I was told that if you run this engine hard, you will get the blowback. Has anyone else seen this? The only thing I have changed is upgrading my prop to a Powertech OFS4 which seems to have increased my RPMs, but actually has improved my MPG, which makes no sense to me, but it runs great. With the smooth water we have had, maybe I am running it harder than usual, who knows. Thanks.

No replies probably because no one knows the condition you're alluding to. The motor is fuel injected and uses an imbedded oil delivery/sump system like a car ... so how does one get blowback?

More likely it is a leak in a return line or rail somewhere ...

I don't know that specific motor, but on many OBs there are return/vacuum lines between the air silencer (large plastic cover on the front of the OB) that go between it and the powerhead ... perhaps one came off and that is causing the drip ...
