I didn't get as big of one as Mark today but it was my first one and I was super excited to check this box on my bucket list. Got all 3 of these around 36 miles out of Beaufort Inlet just past the 14 Sea Buoy. I learned a few things too at the blue water so it was a great day.

Great job and congrats!! I didn't think they were in that close, water temp was only 72 when I stopped there on the way in. I thought I saw you cruise by in the creek when we unloading. It sure was a pretty day out there wasn't it?

Thanks Mark. Once I got to the weed line/stream edge about 2 miles past 14, I was reading about 76 water temp on my Lowrance. It was a beautiful day out there for sure. I just wish we headed out before 9am as I'm sure it was really flat around 7. That's was a nice one you got. Now I have the bug 8)

Nice job. If there are any traps out there with floats on them, they love the shad. If you really want to catch them. Get 6 empty gall. Buy a blue painting tarp and tie the gall to each end and let it float out there. In 45 min or less you will have a few under tarp. Just cast a 1/2 oz buck tail, reel in fast. I'm sure you know them mate for life. When you have one on leave it in the water next to the boat and more will come. Great eating them, raw!!! Cook them will pine apple juice. Also they spook easy. Look at the tied and wind, turn off your motor when drifting to tarp. Motor on will spook them and they will dive deep. After you get a dozen. Jig under the tarp for tuna, you never know. That's is why weed line have fish in it.
