Fish box in the rear. Has anyone insulated

I have an 07 2520 and attempting to use the aft bins as an ICE box or fish box. In florida the ice melts very fast.

HAs anyone figured out a way to insulate? I was wondering if there was a way to inject foam?

The aft fishbox on my '02 2520DV is insulated. Certainly not an Icey-tek or Igloo for keeping Ice, but it's OK.

I have a fish box on my 2520. I have the notch transom with the fish box in the floor. It is not insulated in any way. If that's the one you are referring to then I can help.

Actually I am doing the project right now and have most of a post completed. I can tell you that this project is a royal pain in the behind. I was going to wait until I was done but if this is what you want I can break it up and do it in two parts so you can see what you're up against.

Sorry my boat is 2510 and it's the transom fish box. I thought I read somewhere that the box is insulated. When I knock on the sides it's hollow sounding?


We filled with cubed ice and blocks and lost most of the ice by evening in Bahamas. Melt was fast.

I started to just use coolers in the front deck.
And use the transom box for storage. Well that's not great either cause everything gets wet in the box. So got dry boxes and keep tackle there.

Not sure if anyone has done different. I spoke to other local parker owners here in florida and they just use coolers for fish and have transom box has limited use.

Also thinking of some Styrofoam cover.

Cool, well good luck. I think I've seen something on here that someone did insulate that box. I've never seen how that box looks under it. You may be able to spray some foam from under and make it usefull. That spray foam works pretty well and it doesn't take much really. There's got to be a way don't give up.

Too bad someone couldnt make an insulated fish bag that fit exactly the dimensions of the fish box.

They sprayed on about 1/8 inch of insulation on the underside of the fishbox. There is large gap between box and outside skin (about 1.5 inches) looking into spraying "great stuff" through small holes through outside skin and rig up cardboard to stop any from going into bilge.

alot of cold escapes from the lids, try a sheet of foam R board on the top of ice to help after the box is insulated as an idea.

Same boat, same problem. At Loews/Home Depot you can find the 16" wide bubble wrap with foil on both sides. I think it is used in attic rafters. I cut a piece and laid it across the top of my fishbox...and it worked miracles. Reflects the sun and the ice lasts more than three times longer.

I used Velcro to hold it down.

I use the same bubble wrap material on the inside of my coolers. I lay it directly on top of the ice. My twisted logic is I'm minimizing the air space above the ice. Based upon my observations without the benefit of a control cooler with no bubble wrap on top, ice seems to last longer.

We have drilled about 10 pilot holes sprayed in expanding foam also taped off the bottom of box. Sprayed in "great stuff" and filled the void with insulation. I will post pictures. Should expand and fill around the box to save ice melt.
