so I have a gallon of Fluid Film and just bought a spray gun to apply it....I wanted to know if you guys have used this stuff on the non-skid surface of your boats. In conversation with the people I bought from (who seemed very knowledgeable), the recommended that I avoid spraying on the non-skid deck because it will get too slippery. I wanted to see if you guys have any experience with this, and also find out how you applied the Fluid Film (i.e., just spray on the boat while wet, spread around a little, then just hose off?).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't put it on the non skid, you are defeating the purpose of the non skid. Im a clean freak and im always tempted to wax the non skid parts of my boat but know i have to refrain :p

I do it all the time......

Scrub it good to get it clean, leave it wet. Spray a bit of Fluid Film (work in small sections) and spread it around the area you are working. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and hose off. Still beads weeks later and I have never noticed it slippery at all. It WILL be though as you are working with it, so be careful. Lasts a few weeks but is simple enough to apply again.

I have done it on the top of my pilothouse, spread it around with a soft bristle brush, works like woody wax.

I tried it on a spot on the bow and it seemed to make it pretty slippery maybe I didn't rub it on enough?????

Make sure deck is wet, spray some on (not alot, less is more). As mentioned, swish it around with a bristle brush and then I let it sit. If the sun is out, I find it better to let it just dry right up. I think it works great on non-skid.

Every 3-5 uses, I use non-skid cleaner and that does the trick.

After a normal cruise, I use just soap/water.

After fishing, I bleach (carefully) or softscrub (with bleach). I do not ALWAYS go the bleach route, but if we get back at night and I cannot see if I am missing spots, I just go for it so I dont have flies on the boat in the AM if we got into a blood bath.

i use fluid film all the time on the deck, gunnels, everything. wash down, spray on fluid film move around with soft brush hose down and your done.

use my name and search fluid film. i think woody wax is fluid film. take the test in my other post...............do you agree?
